This was a challenging piece to put together but wound up one of my favorites. We shot interviews with various Vietnam veterans as well as the writer Ross Klavan which told their experience while at this military training facility in Louisiana. While I was going through the interviews I began to realize how scary this place was, especially knowing that after surviving this training camp you were being shipped over to Vietnam where the average life expectancy during a firefight was 16 minutes. I basically crafted this as a very moody piece as they describe the training and their experiences in Vietnam. I added quite of bit of design to this one – more gritty and slightly muted coloring on the interviews to match the rawness of the film.
